            As I am writing this, I can finally see a small light at the end of this very long winter tunnel.  The snow has receded, a Blue Jay is splashing himself in the birdbath outside the clubhouse, and folks are emerging from their winter hibernation to warm up their swings on the practice range.

New Golfer Program ($245 / person)

Holly Ridge is a Certified Beginner Friendly Facility.  Our New Golfer Program is designed for anyone who has never played, has never had formal instruction or who has been away from the game for a long time and is just taking it up again.  The program offers comprehensive sessions that take you from your first swing right on out to the golf course through 8 hours of instruction that’s informative and a lot of fun !  Participants will receive a New Golfer Survival Kit, a Holly Ridge Discount Club Card (a $59 value), an electronic driving range key preloaded with $20, a 10% merchandise coupon and a graduation certificate.  Equipment is provided.  Enrollment is limited to a maximum of 8 students.  After graduation, join our New Golfer League (see info below).

Special-Tee Classes ($60 / person)

These Two-Hour Classes are designed for those who may have completed our New Golfer Program or for those who have had previous formal instruction and would like to proceed to the next level or fine-tune certain aspects of their game.  Please note:  These classes are not designed for new golfers.  Enrollment is limited to a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 students per class.

FREE Monthly Saturday Clinics

Offered one Saturday per month, April through August.  The clinics are designed for players of all abilities.  Each clinic will deal with a particular phase of the game, as well as matters of general interest.  No sign-up is necessary.  Hope to see you there!  The 2009 Free Clinics will be held from 11 am to Noon on April 25th, May 23rd, June 27th, July 18th, and August 29th.

2009 Golf Leagues -

Fun, Friendly, For Everyone

All of our leagues have the same common goal…to help people have fun playing golf.  It’s a great way to meet other golfers and add some socializing to the sport.  Our leagues are great for players of all abilities because we use handicaps and other fun formats to even the competition. 

NEW - Monday Women's Nine & Dine League

Opening Day:  Monday, April 27th.  Plays through September.  Nine Holes.  Tee times available from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.  $25 Annual League Fee (includes $10 Annual Handicap Fee).  $31 weekly fee ($28 for Holly Ridge Discount Club Card holders) includes 9 holes, prizes, and dinner.  Fun and relaxing - no pressure.  Fun games every week.  Clubhouse Credit given out for prizes.  End-of-season banquet. 

Tuesday Men's League

Opening Day:  Tuesday, April 7th.  Tee times available 6:00 to 10:00 am.  Participants in this league may play later in the day, if desired, after 3 pm, first come, first served, but must be accompanied by another member of the league.  All level golfers welcome.  Eighteen holes.  $10 annual handicap fee.  $4 weekly entry fee plus green fee.  Play with your own group or if you’re a single or twosome, we’ll pair you up.  The weekly game gives every golfer a chance to win Clubhouse Credit prizes. 

Junior League

Opening Day:  Tuesday, June 23rd.  9 hole league plays Tuesday afternoons through August 25th.  Boys and girls, ages 9 -16 welcome.  Tee times begin at noon.  $30 annual league fee plus weekly junior green fee. Clubhouse credit given out for prizes.  Please note:  Juniors must have some previous playing experience.  This league is not for juniors who don’t know how to play yet.

NEW - Business to Business League

Opening Day:  Tuesday, May 5th.  9 Hole league plays Tuesdays through September.  Tee times after 4 pm.  Participating businesses will provide a two-person team each week to go head-to-head in a fun, match play, round-robin format with other businesses.  $25 annual league fee per business.  Weekly 9 hole green fee.

Wednesday Morning Women's League

Opening Day:  Wednesday, April 8th.  Eighteen holes.  Tee times after 7 am.  $30 annual dues.  $10 annual handicap fee.  $3 weekly entry fee plus green fees.  Optional $1 weekly birdie pool fee.  Weekly tournaments, monthly special tournaments, and annual league championship.  Clubhouse credit given out for prizes. 

NEW - "Lunch Bunch" Nine Hole Women's League

Opening Day:  Wednesday, May 6th.  $28 weekly fee ($25 for Holly Ridge Discount Club Card holders) includes nine holes and lunch.  $10 Annual League Fee.  Tee times begin at 10 am.  All level golfers welcome.  Fun games. 

Wednesday Women's Nine & Dine League

New Golfer League

Opening Day:  Thursday, May 7th.  Nine holes.  Thursdays through September.  Open to anyone who is new to the game of golf and who has had some formal instruction.  Tee times available from 4 to 6 pm.  Participants will have the opportunity to play the course in a relaxed environment while continuing to improve their skills.  Members are encouraged to bring friends. 

Friday Men's Quota League

Opening Day:  Friday, April 10th.  Tee times available 7 to 9 am.  League members can also play in the afternoon as long as there are at least two league members in each foursome.   Weekly quota format plus monthly special tournaments and an end-of-season league championship.  All level golfers have a chance at winning.  $25 Annual League Fee.  $10 Annual Handicap Fee.  $6 weekly quota entry fee plus green fee.  Monthly tournaments will have a specified entry fee.

Important League Information

Handicap Fee - Most of our leagues require participants to have a Holly Ridge handicap.  A handicap allows players of all levels to play on a level field and have an opportunity to win prizes.  This is a one-time annual fee.  Even if you play in more than one league, you only pay one handicap fee.  A Holly Ridge handicap is required to play in other club tournaments throughout the season as well.

Discount Club Card - If you join one or more of our leagues, please consider purchasing our Discount Club Card to save money on green fees.  This $59 card will save you $5 off the regular 18 hole rate and $3 off the regular 9 hole rate.  You also get 5% back in award dollars on virtually all of your purchases and you can use the awards toward green fees, driving range and merchandise purchases.

Clubhouse Credit - Clubhouse credit can be used for merchandise purchases, driving range tokens, food and bar purchases.
